CAMDEN: A Pemberton Township
man who has fought for nearly a decade to legalize marijuana
pleaded innocent Monday to contempt of court, a charge stemming
from his refusal to provide a DNA sample to a state database.
R. Edward Forchion of the Browns Mills section was released after
signing a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. If convicted, he
faces up to 18 months in prison. Forchion stood outside the Hall
of Justice for about two hours before his court hearing, carrying
a poster protesting the mandatory DNA sampling of persons convicted
of any felonies in New Jersey. He said he refused to comply with
the mandate because it was signed into law after he was placed
on probation for marijuana possession.
Superior Court Judge Robert
G. Millenky set a Feb. 17 status hearing in the case.
Assistant Camden County Prosecutor
John T. Wynne Jr. told Forchion and defense attorney Mark Fury
that they could file a motion in the contempt case to challenge
the constitutionality of the DNA sampling law.
Forchion already has filed
a lawsuit in U.S. District Court on that issue.
"If they want to raise
that issue in a motion to dismiss the indictment, we'll argue
it here," Wynne said.

Farben Corporation. DuPont owned and financed approximately 30%
of Hitler's I.G. Corps, the military-industrial backbone of the

Man-Made Fiber
(Dupont) They were the largest powder company, supplying 40%
of the munitions for the allies in WWI. As cellulose and fiber
researchers, DuPont’s chemists knew hemp’s true value
better than anyone else. The value of hemp goes far beyond line
fibers; although recognized for linen, canvas, netting, and cordage,
these long fibers are only 20% of the hemp-stalks’ weight.
80% of the hemp is in the 77% cellulose hurd, and this was the
most abundant, cleanest resource of cellulose (fiber) for paper,
plastics, and even rayon.

Protecting Special Interests
As the AMA’s Dr. Woodward had asserted, the goverment’s
testimony before Congress in 1937 had in fact consisted almost
entirely of Hearst’s and other sensational and racist newspaper
articles read aloud by Harry J. Anslinger,* director of the Federal
Bureau of Narcotics (FBN). (This agency has since evolved into
the Drug Enforcement Administration [DEA]).
* Harry J. Anslinger was director
of the new Federal Bureau of Narcotics from its inception in
1931 for the next 31 years, and was only forced into retirement
in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy after Anslinger tried to
censor the publications and publishers of Professor Alfred Lindsmith
(The Addict and the Law, Washington Post, 1961) and to blackmail
and harass his employer, Indiana University. Anslinger had come
under attack for racist remarks as early as 1934 by a U.S. senator
from Pennsylvania, Joseph Guffey, for such things as referring
to “ginger-colored niggers” in letters circulated to
his department heads on FBN stationery.
Prior to 1931, Anslinger was
Assistant U.S. Commissioner for Prohibition. Anslinger, remember,
was hand-picked to head the new Federal Bureau of Narcotics by
his uncle-in-law, Andrew Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury under
President Herbert Hoover. The same Andrew Mellon was also the
owner and largest stockholder of the sixth largest bank (in 1937)
in the United States, the Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, one of only
two bankers for DuPont* from 1928 to the present.
* DuPont has borrowed money
from banks only twice in its entire 190-year history, once to
buy control of General Motors in the 1920s. Its banking business
is the prestigious plum of the financial world.
In 1937, Anslinger testified
before Congress saying, “Marijuana is the most violence
causing drug in the history of mankind.”
This, along with Anslinger’s
outrageous racist statements and beliefs, was made to the Southern-dominated
congressional committee and is now an embarrassment to read in

a Compassion Club by the summer to help people with medical conditions
access good, clean cannabis. "We want the community to know

said Russell Barth, a federal medical marijuana licence holder,
who is spearheading a group trying to establish the club. Barth
smokes about a gram a day to treat the pain, spasticity, insomnia,

The American Indian Movement
of Florida ("Florida AIM") will hold its first demonstration
against the vile use of Apache socio-political and spiritual
leader Geronimo to peddle alcohol; January 17th at 2:00 pm (central).
We ask people to meet at 1:30pm in front of the store on (SR
399) Pensacola Beach's main business road. Florida AIM is hopeful
we can march to the store from the concentration camp known as
Fort Pickens where patriots such as Geronimo were interred.
Florida AIM and local concerned
native and non-native residents worked diligently and tirelessly
to open the dialogue of cooperation with Mr. Fred Simmons Jr.
- the peddler of alcohol using Geronimo's name. A protest was
called off when Mr. Simmons in full view and pandering to the
media met with AIM and local residents to announce he would "consider"
changing the name. A week later he announced, sans media, he
would instead work to convince the Fort Sill Apache Tribal Council
to approve and sanction his use of Geronimo's name and image
to market his alchohol establishment.
Florida AIM condemns Mr. Simmons
deceit. If Mr. Simmons honestly intended to honor Geronimo and
Apache peoples he would have first ASKED the descendants of Geronimo
and the Apache governments-traditional and IRA, for permission
and honored any request not to name his alchohol establishment
after Geronimo. Instead Mr. Simmons trades upon the memory, cache
and historical image of Geronimo to profit from, and only when
challenged considers demanding permission to use the name.
This kind of double dealing
is nothing new to Indigenous peoples. This vile misuse of a heroic
patriots name and image is nothing new. The exploitation for
profit of a human beings name that does not benefit their descendants
is nothing new. Naming a bar after Geronimo is similar to Mr.
Simmons honoring Christianity by imploring people to drink the
spirit of "Jesus" or the NAZI's if they had won World
War II opening a bar called the "Spirit of Ann Frank",
you know to honor the holocaust victims. These examples immediately
create strong and reactions of repulsion - as should "Geronimo's
spirit"
Its time to really respect
Native peoples. Its time for Mr. Simmons to end his repulsive
stain on Pensacola Beach by changing the name. Florida AIM will
not tolerate the gross affront to and exploitation of Indigenous
peoples. On Saturday January 17th Florida AIM will be joined
in small numbers by representatives of Mississippi AIM and the
Choctaw Warrior Society. Our demonstrations, like our resolve
will only grow in numbers.
Florida AIM offered Mr. Simmons
our hand in the dialogue of cooperation. He rejected it. We now
advise him and Pensacola Beach, the day of reckoning is coming.
Its time to change the name, it will change and how is up to
Mr. Simmons.
We ask all human beings who
can, to join with us Saturday on the weekend people throughout
the US celebrate the civil rights movement, and stand with us
to truely honor an Indigenous patriot. We ask those of you that
can not join us this saturday-to plan to join us in thefuture
and larger protests are planned. We ask that you now contact
Mr. Simmons and voice your repulsion at his use of Geronimo's
name and demand he change it NOW!

Brutal dog-torture continues at the hands of hardhearted Iditarod
mushers.
Please help the dogs who are forced to run in the Iditarod dog
sled race by sending protest emails to race sponsors and promoters.
The Iditarod has a long documented history of dog deaths, illnesses
and injuries. On average, 54% of the dogs who start the race
do not even make it across the finish line. Of those that do,
81% have lung damage. Many dogs who are permanently injured in
the Iditarod or who are unwanted for any other reason are shot
in the head, dragged or clubbed to death. "On-going cruelty
is the law of many dog lots. Dogs are clubbed with baseball bats
and if they don't pull are dragged to death in harnesses....."
